Our Senior Staff is comprised of experienced adults from all walks of life. Senior Members, often referred to as SMs, are here to help guide the Cadets on their journey through the cadet program. Our goal is to help educate the Cadets on the many facets of aviation in a fun, safe and professional manner. Not only does our Senior Staff encourage questions and input from Cadets, we also welcome the same from parents and guardians. Below you can find out more on our Senior Staff.

Deputy Commander of Cadets: Maj David Stansfield

Maj David StansfieldMaj Stansfield joined CAP in September of 2005 with his daughter who was aspiring to become an Air Force Officer. As he progressed in CAP, he became the squadron commander for the 103rd Composite Squadron and interim squadron commander for the Danielson Cadet Squadron. Maj Stansfield has been the Director and Deputy Directory of Cadet Programs for Ct Wing.

In April 2015, he received a “Meritorious Service” Award for his work at the squadron and wing level. He received the “Region Cadet Programs Officer of the Year” Award in 2017 and the “Region Character Development Officer of the Year: Award in 2018.

Over the years, Maj Stansfield has been very involved in the squadron’s, wing’s, and region’s color guard competition. He runs the CT Wing’s competition and judges at the regional level. He assisted in training the 2022 Squadron team which went to the national competition.

Through the years, his focus has been on the Cadet Program and our Cadets. Each year there have been cadets who make the effort enjoyable and worth continuing in CAP.

Public Affairs Officer: 2d Lt Dan Villeneuve

2d Lt Villeneuve Public Affairs and IT Officer2d Lt Villeneuve joined CAP in August, 2023 after his son joined the squadron a month prior. He brings to the unit over thirty years of IT and Marketing experience, including development, documentation and training, and currently serves as the squadron's Public Affairs Officer, IT Officer and Cyber Security Training Officer. In addition, Lt Villeneuve has eighteen years as a professional photographer with aviation as one of the primary subject genres. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard and sees CAP as a fresh way to serve his country and local community. This military experience nicely carries over to Land Navigation, Leadership, Drill, and Courtesies training for the Cadets. Being able to help Cadets learn more about various aspects of aviation and professional development, as well as his personal growth towards assisting with CAP Missions is a driving factor in Lt Villeneuve's involvement and excitement about Civil Air Patrol.
