Land Navigation Training *TENTATIVE*

We are tentatively planning on doing an overnight Land Navigation training event at Camp Nett and Stone's Ranch. Departure will be on Friday evening. This depends on confirmed attendance. Please reach out to 2d LT Dow as soon as possible so we can have an accurate head count. More details will be made available once we have enough Cadets expressing interest in attending.

Drop-Off

Please drop your cadet off at the Dominos Pizza parking lot (52 Rainbow Rd, East Granby) between 5:30-5:45pm on Friday, 6 Oct. 1Lt Noack will be the POC for the drop-off. They will be departing East Granby for Niantic at 6:00pm. Note: We will NOT be feeding cadets that evening, so they will need to eat or bring packaged food for Friday evening. We will be providing breakfast/lunch/dinner for Sat, and breakfast/lunch for Sunday. Cadets can bring packaged snacks. Bottled water will also be provided once we are in Niantic. 

 

Pick-Up

Cadets will be returning to the Dominos parking lot at approximately 3:00pm on Sunday, 8 Oct. Cadets will be instructed to notify their parents when we depart Niantic so that there is at least an hour’s heads-up to be present.

 

Packing List Notes

• The packing list includes sleeping bag and pillow. Cadets will be staying in dorms, however to make it easier for cleanup they will be utilizing their sleeping bags on the cots instead of sheets/blankets

• A bike helmet or some other type of protective helmet, as well as work gloves, are required for the Leadership Reaction course scheduled for Sunday. Cadets will not be allowed to participate if they do not have both.

• Some sort of insect repellent spray/lotion is mandatory. Both events are outside and we do not have control on what type of insects we will be encountering

 

Please notify me of any allergies or dietary restrictions for your cadets.

 

Since Stones Ranch and Camp Nett are State Military facilities, if a Government Shutdown does occur it may impact our ability to hold this event because personnel who have to be present so we can utilize these facilities might be furloughed. I will be tracking this closely and will notify all parents/cadets if there is in fact a change to our plans. Do not just go by what the news tells you, I will communicate any cancellation directly to you.
